Dinosuars? What do I Know About Dinosaurs?

I am scared! Yes I have volunteered to help out a nearby preschool for 30 minutes a week doing arts & crafts and other fun things. Doing fun stuff wouldn’t typically strike me as a terrifying activity. And I have been through more stressful things than this for sure. But somehow, keeping 25 three and four year olds interested and having fun, has given me nightmares. Lots of them.
Teacher to me: “Topics for the month: dinosaurs, apples, and rocks.” I find it a great relief that out of all the bizillion topics on the earth, I have only to focus on three. No astrophysics or biochemical reactions to figure out. Heart rate drops momentarily.
And then for some unknown reason, the topic of dinosaurs resonates with me. Who knows why? I don’t have the slightest bit of knowledge about dinosaurs. I have seen fake ones in different museums; however I can’t remember being enthralled by them … ever. Then the heart rate starts to climb. I know the kids can pronounce all of those complicated names better than I – they have been studying them for 2 weeks already. Which is an herbivore, carnivore, or any other “vore” there might be. Must stay away from fighting dinosaurs. Is talking about dinosaur eggs OK or it that too “personal.” Should I pull out the Disney movies on dinosaurs and learn something quick… or maybe review Jurassic Park from the days of the dinosaurs.
I am praying inspiration comes to me before I enter the Blue Door of the classroom next week.

Smiles Across the Miles

I woke up early this morning (5:15am!)and quickly decided I was up for the day. Quick cup of coffee and went online to check in on the world. And thankfully, my “I woke up too early” sluggishness was transformed into a series of smiles. Yes- more photos of the great nieces had arrived across the miles and were sitting in my inbox. I reckon that if smiling kids can make a moany. coffee-laced zombie smile, then we should all post kid photos and plan on world peace.
